National Union of Students in Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences – SAMOK’s President of the Board for 2023 has been elected. Joonas Soukkio from the Tampere University of Applied Sciences student union TAMKO was elected president of the union. Soukkio is a business student and has served this year as chairman of the student union’s board.
“This is one of the greatest and most wonderful moments of my life. In 2023, I will do everything I can to ensure that the government negotiations following the parliamentary elections make long-needed and critical improvements to students’ livelihoods and well-being,” said newly elected Soukkio.
Diana Muraskina (The Student Union of Haaga-Helia – Helga) was elected as vice-president of the board. In addition, the General Assembly, which met for two days in Tampere, elected four board members. Halla Kokkonen (The Student Union of Diaconia UAS – O’Diako), Oona Pappila (Student Union of the Savonia University of Applied Sciences), Minni Takala (Student Union of South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences Kaakko) and Adel Rizvi (The Student Union of Metropolia University of Applied Sciences METKA) were elected to board members.
During Thursday and Friday, the General Assembly accepted e.g, the action plan and budget for next year and SAMOK’s new political programme. The new board will start its work in January 2023 at SAMOK’s office in Helsinki.
