Why are you running for the SAMOK’s Board?
I am running for SAMOK’s Board to ensure international students are represented in decision-making. As we face growing risks, it is essential our voices are heard and our needs addressed.
Responsibilities are also divided among the presidency in different ways depending on the year. What issues would you be particularly interested in in the Bureau’s area of responsibility?
I am primarly interested in internationality, European affairs and international student rights, as well as housing and social welfare.
What kind of networks do you have and what kind of networker are you?
I have a lot of connection in the European Union and in the Student Union Field. I like to believe that I am the kind of networker that is able to connect with a majority of person, as I like to talk to everyone.
What kind of political lobbying experience do you have? For example, experience in lobbying.
I have experience in european political lobbying as I have been doing this for a year and a half, and also on the UAS side as i often took part in discussion with Haaga–Helia concerning international students.
What kind of leadership experience do you have and what kind of leader do you aspire to be?
I was vice-chair of HELGA for 1.5 years, and since Nov 2024 I’m the president of UlySA and chair of KVLK at HELGA. I aim to be a leader who inspires others and encourages them to do their best.
Tell us why you should be elected to the SAMOK Board.
I should be elected to SAMOK’s board because my experience, knowledge, and network, combined with SAMOK’s influence, can genuinely improve conditions for all international students in UAS.
What else would you like to tell us?
Only by working hand in hand can we make the UAS field more inclusive for everyone. We should embrace our differences and be proud of them. SAMOK is doing great work, but we need to push further to ensure a better future for all UAS students.
My name is Théo Bloemen, 23, French living in Finland for 5 years. I served 1.5 years as vice-chair of HELGA and am now president of UlySA. I focus on international student rights and was awarded SAMOK’s Student Act of the Year.
