Atte Mannila is the candidate for the 2027 SAMOK Board President.

Atte is from the Satakunta University of Applied Sciences student union SAMMAKKO, and has served this year as chair of the Sammakko board.

Why are you running for the SAMOK’s Board?

I am applying to SAMOK because I want to lead the student movement with determination, build a shared direction, and strengthen the student voice in societal decision-making. I want to bring with me courage, a collaborative mindset, and a genuine desire to develop SAMOK together.

Responsibilities are also divided among the presidency in different ways depending on the year. What issues would you be particularly interested in in the Bureau’s area of responsibility?

I am primarily interested in political advocacy and leadership. I want to strengthen the student voice in decision-making, promote students’ position in society, and grow as a leader through new challenges.

What kind of networks do you have and what kind of networker are you?

I am naturally a networker, and I have actively collaborated with student organizations, companies in Satakunta, and political decision-makers at various levels. I enjoy meeting new people and understanding different perspectives.

What kind of political lobbying experience do you have? For example, experience in lobbying.

I have diverse experience in advocacy and promoting students’ interests. I have engaged in discussions with politicians and other decision-makers on current issues that are important to students. I also serve on several working groups within the university, where I have the opportunity to participate in decision-making and bring the student perspective to the table.

What kind of leadership experience do you have and what kind of leader do you aspire to be?

I have leadership experience from the student union, the Reserve Officer School, the Youth Council, and working life. I strive to be a listening, inclusive, and approachable leader who can, when necessary, be decisive, make decisions, and take responsibility. I want to lead by example and inspire people to work towards a common goal.

Tell us why you should be elected to the SAMOK Board.

I have experience in advocacy, leadership, and working with a wide range of stakeholders. I am used to taking responsibility and driving things forward, while also listening to others. I want to bring to SAMOK determined, collaborative leadership that strengthens the student voice.

What else would you like to tell us?

I’m Atte, and I serve as the Chair of the Board of SAMMAKKO. Through my work at SAMMAKKO, I have gained strong experience in leadership, advocacy, and influencing. I am running for Chair of SAMOK because I want to take this experience to the national level and lead the student movement forward with greater impact. I am not a finished product, but I am ready to learn, grow, and work towards a shared goal. Now is the time to act.

This year, my responsibilities also include student union partnerships and cooperation. Last year, I served on SAMMAKKO’s board as the person responsible for tutor activities. Before joining the student union, I also held positions of trust, including serving on the Pori Youth Council, where I was the First Vice Chair.
